I'm a Mac, I'm a PC and I'm Linux

Finally, ads featuring Linux -- that are a spoof of the famous Mac TV ads.

One of the reasons that Windows has so much market share is the huge investment that Microsoft makes in marketing and advertising. A few years ago, Apple started a marketing campaign to try to get people to think that alternatives to Windows were worth considering. Their "I'm a Mac" television ads were wildly popular. And Apple's market share of the personal computer segment began to increase as a result.

This had a modest spin-off effect that helped Linux. Once people realized that there might be a viable alternative to Windows, many looked at a range of options -- not just the Mac. And several of them settled on Linux.

Linux has no single powerhouse corporation like Microsoft and Apple to fund major advertising initiatives. So ads promoting Linux are relatively rare. But recently my wife stumbled across some ads from Novell promoting their Suse Linux. These are spoofs of the Apple "I'm a Mac" ads. I thought you might enjoy them.
